Very much enjoying the Mother Protocol Au by @herecomesthetaco and have thusly come forth with an offering of rough sketches (of which there will surely be more) and a concept

Concept: Disassembly Drone babies will cling to their parent's chest like bats, holding on with their arms, legs, and teeny tiny little wings. Tess, while not a Disassembly Drone, adapts this behavior quickly and effectively the moment she gets some limbs (much to her mother's relief; J can finally get back on the wing without worrying about leaving the baby alone in the nest!)

Bonus concept: Disassembly Drones have armor plating all over them which can pop up or shift down to cover vital or vulnerable areas, but is otherwise resting unnoticed against their bodies. When they have a baby on board, they'll let the plating surrounding their core shift out just a little to provide handholds for said baby.
